Our Work

Gatherings

Our gatherings by the Ein Haniya spring have been gradually growing since 2006 into regular get-togethers, where intimate listening, spiritual openness and family-like celebration draw people of all nations to come together every week and bring their feelings, ideas and longings. Palestinians come from towns, villages and refugee camps in the West Bank, Israelis come from Jerusalem area, the Galilee and even from settlements, and internationals from all around the world.

Creativity Camps

Bringing out the creative spirit that lives in every child (and adult). Creating an alternative sheltering environment during challenging turbulent times.

Caravans

Special tours to Israel, Palestine and the space in between. Personally getting to know the people and landscapes from up close. We have also gone on musical caravans in the Middle East and in Europe.

Permaculture

Working together on the land, farmers and volunteers of all nations. Restoring terraces and springs, collecting garbage, digging water catchment cellars and so on.

All Nations Café ONE PEOPLE, ONE PLANET, ONE SPIRIT

The All Nations Café touches people from diverse and sometime conflicting backgrounds. At one meeting a soldier on duty sat side by side with a local farmer whom he ws supposed to detain, discussing the latest olive harvest and treating each other as equal human beings. At another meeting, family members of Palestinian prisoners shared their feelings with a family of Israeli settlers. Our work also involves engagement of youth on both sides of the border. The vision behind the All Nations Café includes empowering the next generation during a very challenging time.

About Us

True to its spirit, the All Nations Café is focusing on bridging walls and creating closeness between Palestinians and Israelis and on inspiring a new generation of leaders and social innovators. As in its beginning, when the café was opened on the border of East and West Jerusalem, so it is today on the border of Palestine and Israel. In a fertile land that used to be No Man's Land, and has become a military zone between the last houses of Palestinian villagers and the first houses of Israeli Jerusalemites. This way we have the great opportunity to bring people of both sides of the border, in an atmosphere of intimacy without intimidation, to come together and share their feelings, aspirations and skills.

The All Nations Café

Since December 2003, the All Nations Café has been a fertile ground for innovative projects which allow people from warring nations to meet each other even at the worst of times. Opening a coffee shop in East Jerusalem opposite al-Aqsa mosque at the height of the al-Aqsa Intifada, touring Jordan and being the first group including Israeli-Jews to perform at one of the biggest Arab Music & Arts Festivals in Jerash, Organizing a one-week Palestinian-Israeli Families Camp during the recent war in Lebanon and in Gaza - are just a few examples. We are always open to give space to your heart's passion and mind's creativity. You are welcome to contact us and see how we can support your project and how you can get involved in ours.

We are especially interested in:

  • All forms of Art
  • Nature and the Environment
  • Community Building
  • Spiritual Awareness

Meet The Team

The All Nationts Café is a strong team of Israelis, Palestinians and internationals, who work together, visit each other's homes and see themselves as part of one family.

Dhyan

Dhyan Or

Born in Jerusalem to Holocaust survivors from the USSR, Dhyan grew up with Moroccan, Iranian and Iraqi kids. He later travelled in the Middle East and the Far East to connect with extra-ordinary people. A meeting with an inspiring aged Palestinian gentleman brought him back to his city of birth, where he was disconcerted to find out that hundreds of thousands of fellow Jerusalemites had been concealed from his view in East Jerusalem. It was there, where the spirit of hospitality of his host, and the support of his friends, helped him realize his All Nations Café dream.

Lisa

Lisa Talesnick

Educating the next generation of Palestinian leaders, Lisa is loved by many people in Israel, Palestine and abroad. She can introduce the Circassian spirit in a way that inspires people to dance with the grace and self esteem of princes and princesses.

Miriam

Miriam Ohevetel

An "Ageless Woman", Miriam is a charismatic performer, who charms her audience, whether in a concert hall or at a street corner. Living in Jerusalem, she takes part in various peace and ecology initiatives. Miriam has recorded several albums of original music with Israeli and Palestinian musicians. Two of her songs have won prizes at a nation-wide Jewish festival in the USA.

Ibrahim Abu el Hawa

The man behind it all. Ibrahim is a descendant of a line of farmers who have been living on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem for more than a thousand years. He is a symbol of hospitality and generosity, and his home is famous around the world as a place of rest and nourishment to body and soul. It is in this home that the first All Nations Cafe project was inspired and conceived, and where the first meetings and gatherings took place among mountains of delicious home made Middle Eastern food.

Abed

Abed Abd Rabo (of Blessed Memory)

A son of farmers from Walaja village, south of Jerusalem, Abed was born in Dheishe refugee camp near Bethlehem. Embodying the Palestinian spirit of freedom and peace, he is first and foremost a man of the land. A falah who cultivates his plants with such care, love and connection with the earth, that even the soldiers who try to drive him away from his ancestral land are compelled to honor.

Daphna

Daphna Rosenberg

Daphna is a gifted singer and musician, dedicated to opening hearts and connecting people to each other and to God, through her music. After years of traveling and singing through many places around the world, she is now committed to living in Israel and singing around the Middle East, where the work is desperately needed. Daphna has helped set up many of the All Nations Cafe caravans, gatherings and camps and brought the spirit of song and dance into them. Her intention is to expand her work by introducing the Dances of Universal Peace.

Jeff Goldstein

Supporting the All Nations Café since its early days, Jeff has been taking care of the spiritual aspects of our gatherings. Whether our circle numbers five or a hundred people, Jeff always manages to lead us into a healing and blessing space, teaching us to sense our individual and group energies, focus and use them to make a tangible positive change.

Ofer

Ofer Golany

A talented guitarist and composer, with many concerts and albums behind him, Ofer keeps performing in Israel and in Europe with his Palestinian partners. He demonstrated his courage and devotion by offering live music to the All Nations Cafe during its first challenging months of operation. He also recorded and produced the All Nations Cafe Caravan CD, as well as contributed a number of compositions to it.

David

Dr. David Leighton

Even though he retired from his occupation as an ophthalmologist, David is fully committed to fixing people's sight so it can accept the vision of peace through brotherhood. His attraction to the orient has pulled him from various places in Europe, mainly the UK and Germany, to the Middle East, where he is known as King David of Arabia, and admired by Palestinians, Jordanians and Israelis, who all see him as a close benevolent relative and a relentless believer in the good nature of man.

Hamze

Hamze Fanoun

Electrician and expert in motors, who loves music, dancing and smoking his nargila wearing a tambourine round his neck, Hamze is the spirit and the heart behind the late night haflas at the all nations cafe. He lives with his wife and children in Nahaleen village, down the hill from his dream house, which was demolished shortly after he finished building it in the late 90's.

Nimrod Kovner

An activist and a scholar who loves physical and mental work alike, Nimrod was the focalizer of our Springs and Terraces project. Living in Jerusalem, Nimrod proves as a great contact to the local student community and to the Israeli Nature Authority.

Timna Sharir

Born and raised in a Kibbutz in the Galillee region of Israel, Timna has put her strong sense of community to use in initiating and organizing the Ein Haniya Fair, a happening of ecology, culture and commercial exchange. Timna's wide network of friends has brought plenty of new young people to visit and take part in the All Nations Cafe gatherings.
